Tooele Spring Tri

We wanted to get a tri in this spring which is always a risk. When we signed up we had no clue if it would be 75 degrees or 38 degrees...well it ended up being 38 degrees and raining! NOT GOOD. The one major bonus about this tri (and the main reason we did it) is it was in Tooele. Here we are setting up we were trying to figure out how to organize our stuff and keep it somewhat dry while we did the swim.

We keep thinking if we do races these chipmunk cheeks will go away, but they just don't!
I had a pretty good idea what I was getting myself into when I took this picture, but it actually ended up being WAY colder than I anticipated. It got colder and wetter as the race went on. We biked 15 miles soaked from head to toe. I got passed by a semi twice while on a super narrow section of the shoulder of the road...SCARY! Josh got a flat tire twice in the same tire, our feet were so cold after the bike that they were numb, it took literally half of the run before we could feel our feet. But the surprising thing is I didn't actually realize just how cold I was until I finished and my arms and legs were stiff and I was actually shivering. Sometimes it's really all you can do to just finish and you are grateful for that much.
Best news of all...just a 20 minute drive to a HOT shower!
