Kearns Tri

Josh did his second sprint triathlon last weekend. It was cold and wet, but luckily the rain held off. The swim was in an indoor pool which meant staggered start times...here is Josh waiting for his turn if you look close you may notice there are a lot of people you would never think could do a triathlon.

Here's Josh making the transition from the warm pool to the cold bike ride. Notice those spectator's in their jackets and hoods....and Josh in his spandex... correction Jammer's!

This picture was taken just after his first almost wreck. He turned and hit some wet gravel, but thankfully he didn't go down, it did give him a serious scare though. This is also the start of a huge unexpected climb toward the end of the bike. He did awesome and just passed people like crazy going up this long hill.

Here he is heading down the homestretch, when I zoomed in he is smiling at us in the pic and his wheel looks crooked...maybe he should not look at the camera on those skinny little tires and just focus on the road!

The race ended in the Olympic Oval which I guess is cool, but the rest of the run was a joke, the course was changed at the last minute and was not marked well, Josh and some others got lost at one point. They also had to trudge through tall wet grass along the path. He finished 16th overall and 4th for his age...there were definately some "real triathletes" at this one so he feels pretty good about this finish...it could have been even better had the run been properly marked.
