Deer Hunter Widow

I now know what being a deer hunter widow feels like. I went with Josh a couple of times, but this guy went hunting 10 times before he got this deer...this was the only buck he saw the entire time, there was definately no shortage of doe around. He ended up getting this at a now undiscloseable location. Not bad for his first deer ever.
Opening day up by Pine Canyon...we didn't even see a buck and it was FREEZING, as cold as I can ever remember being while hunting...I shivered for over an hour waiting for the sun to get to us.

Josh had plenty of help on opening day to assist with all of the post shooting "fun", but this buck decided to wait until Josh was all by himself to show up. Josh had to flag down another hunter to help him lift it into the vehicle, he also threw out his back and shoulders dragging it to the vehicle.Keyan is wondering why in the world this deer is laying in our front yard.

Josh did the butchering and we bottled some of the meat and he made jerky out of the rest. I know bottled meat, but it is actually not bad and lots of people were impressed with his jerky...all we need now is a cow and a bomb shelter and we will be serious weirdo's!
