Sutton Lincoln Maher

I went to my Dr's visit on the 20th and Dr. Vered  thought it would be best to induce asap so later that night I went to the hospital and started the induction process. He was born the 21st at 12:16pm. The time leading up was really mellow, the labor progressed steadily, I got an epideral at around 3.5 cm and it wasn't too soon. I can't imagine why anyone would want to feel the actual pain of contractions and delivery, I was able to rest and enjoy the labor process. Dr. Vered decided Josh should deliver the baby so he got suited up in a robe and gloves (no pictures due to my lack of modesty at that point). Of course the whole time he's getting suited up I'm feeling like I need to push the baby out and trying with all I can to NOT push while everyone merrily get's dressed, there was a second when I thought this baby is going to fall right out while all three of them have their heads turned the other way. Finally, THEY were ready...3 pushes and his head was out. The Dr. informs everyone the cord is around the neck, then with a little nervousness in his voice he says "it's really tight, super tight...oh my it's around twice" I'm starting to get worried at this point and I see him grab something and then he say's "okay, we'll just do this" and I'm thinking "oh crap I'm about to get the hugest episiotomy ever so this baby can come right out." Well, luckily with his experience he just clamped two sides of the cord while the baby was still inside and he still had Josh cut it right next to Sutton's neck (which was super scary for him). As soon as that was done, one more push and Josh delivered Sutton he walked him over to the baby station and the nurse got him all cleaned up. He had great coloring and no effects from the cord being so tight. We originally wanted to wait until the 23rd for the induction, but I'm so thankful Dr. Vered advised we have him asap, He mentioned several times throughout the hospital stay that he was so glad we did it that day and he couldn't believe how tight that cord was. We truly are blessed everything turned out great!

And now for an explanation of his name: Sutton is a small town in Southern England where Josh served his mission. Lincoln is another name for the town I grew-up in, Pine Canyon. We wanted him to have some part of his name from my side of the family and growing up in Lincoln really meant a lot to me, it shaped me into the person I am today and taught me a lot about how to work, have fun and serve other people. Maher...well that part was easy!

My FOUR boys...I'm totally fine being the only girl around here!

It's amazing no matter how small your carseat is, it totally drowns them for weeks. So far he is a very well mannered baby. His brother's love him so much that just want to be right in his face and of course that is just what mom does not want! Keyan can't stop kissing his hair (since that's the only thing he's authorized to touch). As soon as Tiago and Keyan wake up or come in the house they have been calling for Sutton and asking where he is. Life is about to get really crazy!

I'm able to blog because I can't sleep and I don't want to clean so I've just been hanging out either in the "nursing chair" or at the computer!
