Trip

Ha, now I can be like all of you punks that post all sorts of awesome vacations. Well, if you are not one of those punks, just know I'm just like you...I really don't go on that many cool vacations and when I do go, it's something that has required much planning and saving for so don't be jealous!
When Josh and I got married, we spent most of our budget on our honeymoon and went on an AMAZING cruise...we loved it so much we set a goal to go every 5 years. Keyan was just born on our 5 year, so we put it off a year, but we made it back at the 6.5 mark. We were married in the summer, but going on a trip in the winter sounds much more appealing. Plus Dwayne and Tiffany will celebrate the big 10 this month and they wanted to do something big and exciting so we decided to go on a cruise together. If you are still reading this here is the lowdown of how it went.
First, we stressed out about what we would do with our kids, luckily some great Grandma's stepped in to help.

Next, we were off to Miami where our cruise departed from. We went to the Bahamas. Freeport, Nassau, and a private island Great stirrup cay (only we never made it there).
Miami, this island in the back ground is apparenlty where all of the rich people live...ie Players from the Heat, Dolphins, etc the yachts in the backyards made it believable.

Downtown Miami...trashy.

Above -all in Freeport, there's a reason Josh isn't in any of these photos...he was quarantined to his room for 24 hours because of a minor case of food poisioning he got from his first meal on the ship, lunch the very first day :-( You'll have to ask if you want that full story.
The above mentioned quarantine, how would you like to spend over 24 hours in this room, luckily we had a window!Nassau, Josh was able to join us again...we went on this Catamaran sail boat to snorkel off a reef, it ended up being the highlight of the trip along with this AMAZING beach just down from Atlantis resort, the water was so warm and blue, sand as white as it gets...everything from bahama-mama's to drink to massages beachside, it was just like the movies. We took some serious peltings from these waves and loved (almost) every minute of it.
The sea's were pretty rough at night and on the third morning when we were supposed to tendor to the private island they were really rough so we ended up having an extra day at sea (not what we had hoped for but what can ya do?) We played cards, ate, played basketball, ate, went to some shows, ate...you get the idea.We got to spend a day in Ft. Lauderdale because of the way the flights worked out. We went to an Alligator farm to ride airboats in the everglades, but...it was too rainy so we went out on Alligator alley to see some gators...too cloudy. So we decided to eat a dang alligator...gator bites that is...battered and fried and pretty dang good. We also held and touched a baby alligator...very leatherly, not slimy at all. I can definately see why people go for the boots and bags.

We ended up at this sweet beach where apparently the under-tow was super bad and there were a ton of jelly-fish on the shore (both of which we found out AFTER Josh swam and Dwayne got stung by a jelly-fish...no one had to pee on it) The same locals who informed us of this, told us about an amazing mexican place in downtown Ft. Lauderdale...Rocco's Tacos (and Tequila bar) We mostly just went for the tacos! It was DANG good. And then...back to reality we got home and Keyan has the chicken pox!! Welcome HOME :-)

Wow! I am super jealous! Chicken Pox? Nursury? Has he had any immunizations?

Ya, he has been immunized... he's just that "special" kid who is still going to catch every weird thing he can. It ended up being a really mild case, which I guess was a result of having been immunized.
